Erie Police Department Raises $4,000 for Local Charities Through No Shave November
The Erie Bureau of Police and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 7 have donated $4,000 to four local nonprofit organizations thanks to the success of their “No Shave November” initiative. The funds were presented to the charities on March 18, 2026.
Program Details
More than 150 officers participated in the “No Shave November” event, which allowed them to temporarily relax the department’s policy prohibiting beards and goatees – officers are typically permitted to grow mustaches. In exchange for growing facial hair, officers made donations, with additional funding provided by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 7.
Beneficiary Organizations
The following organizations each received $1,000 from the Erie Police Department and the Fraternal Order of Police:
- A.N.N.A. Shelter of Erie
- Mental Health Association of Northwestern Pennsylvania
- Robert Irvine Foundation
- Shriners Children’s Erie
Future Plans
Police Chief Rick Lorah indicated the bureau hopes to expand the program in future years to raise even more money for local charities.
The initiative demonstrates a commitment from the Erie Bureau of Police to support the community beyond traditional law enforcement duties.
