The Minnesota wild secured a 3-2 overtime victory against the Seattle kraken on thursday, but the win was tempered by an injury to key center Joel Eriksson Ek.
Eriksson Ek sustained a lower-body injury during the second period and did not return to the game. He finished with 7:57 of ice time,registering three shots on goal and a plus-one rating.
Despite the injury, Wild head coach John Hynes downplayed the severity, characterizing it as a minor incident. “It was no big deal,” Hynes stated. “he got a little stuck in some player at the bench. It wasn’t a tackle or anything like that, just an accident.”
Hynes indicated that Eriksson Ek will be listed as “evaluated daily” and his condition will be reassessed upon the team’s return to Minnesota.
eriksson Ek has been a meaningful offensive contributor for the Wild this season, amassing 32 points (11 goals and 21 assists) in 45 games played.
