A High-End Showcase at the Four Seasons
On Friday, July 3, the Four Seasons New Orleans transformed into a hub of high-end retail. ESSENCE LUXE curated an exclusive marketplace for Black designers. The boutique-style event featured collections from Christopher John Rogers, Brandon Blackwood, Bernard James, Tia Adeola, House of Aama, and Nia Thomas.
Direct Sales and Strategic Sell-Outs
The garden setting offered more than just a showroom; it acted as a vital point of contact for labels. For Brandon Blackwood, the New Orleans market presented a clear strategic opportunity. By bringing a curated selection of staples and high-performing styles to the festival, the accessory designer saw immediate results. Blackwood confirmed that the retail strategy led to multiple sell-outs during the afternoon.

Building Community Among Creatives
Beyond the registers, the event served as a collaborative sanctuary. Nia Thomas described the atmosphere as a source of professional support, noting the importance of sharing space with peers like Rebecca, Bernard, Tia, CJR, and Brandon. “I find everyone really inspiring,” Thomas said.
Challenging Stereotypes Through Design
For the House of Aama, the location carried personal weight. Co-founder Rebecca Henry, dressed in the label’s Swamp Rose Mesh Dress, viewed the activation as a chance to push back against industry norms. She emphasized that her presence served to show that women over 50 can still be sexy and walk around looking good.
The Intersection of Narrative and Retail
The success of the activation was bolstered by a warm reception from the local New Orleans community. Designer Tia Adeola noted that positive interactions with local residents and hospitality workers were instrumental to her brand’s engagement. As a whole, the showcase underscored the marriage of cultural storytelling and commerce. By providing a physical space for designers to explain the narratives behind their collections, ESSENCE LUXE deepened the connection between luxury goods and the consumers who invest in them.
