Esther Cobbah: Building Brand Trust as a Cornerstone of Entrepreneurial Success

Accra, Ghana – March 1, 2026 – Esther Cobbah, Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Communications Africa Ltd (Stratcomm Africa), has emphasized the critical role of brand presence and trust in achieving long-term business success for female entrepreneurs. Speaking at the Africa Women’s Entrepreneurship & Business Innovation Programme 2026, organized by the Africa Women’s Leadership Academy, Cobbah highlighted credibility, relevance, and excellence as the foundational elements of effective leadership.

The Importance of Self-Awareness and Stakeholder Needs

Cobbah advised participants to cultivate a deep understanding of themselves – their strengths and weaknesses – alongside a thorough grasp of their stakeholders’ needs and the broader context in which their businesses operate. “You cannot determine your relevance from your perspective alone. Your enterprise must solve problems that matter to others, not just one that only excites you,” she stated.

Brand Trust: A Product of Consistent Excellence

A central theme of Cobbah’s address was the importance of brand trust. She stressed that trust isn’t built overnight, but rather through consistent excellence and unwavering ethical conduct. Entrepreneurs, she urged, must consistently deliver on their brand promises, ensuring alignment between internal actions and external messaging. Proactive crisis preparedness, without compromising integrity, is also essential.

Reputation Management in Times of Crisis

Cobbah underscored that a company’s reputation is not solely defined by its achievements, but equally by its behavior during challenging times. “Your reputation is shaped not only by what you achieve, but also by how you behave in crises,” she explained.

Sustainable Growth and Institutional Strength

Moving beyond immediate gains, Cobbah encouraged women founders to prioritize steady growth, robust systems, and the development of capable teams. She emphasized the necessity of continuous learning, self-renewal, and disciplined leadership, noting that founders must adapt and evolve alongside their organizations. She advocated for deliberate investment in teams, organizational culture, and governance structures, asserting that strong institutions outlive individuals and that true leadership lies in building systems that can function effectively even in the founder’s absence.

Personal Influences on a Successful Career

Esther Cobbah also shared insights into her personal journey, revealing the significant influence of her mother on her career path.

Esther Cobbah is a Ghanaian communication specialist and the founder of Stratcomm Africa. In 2022, she was awarded Woman of the Year at the Ghana Outstanding Women Awards. She also serves as a board member of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) and authored the book, Dare to Be.
