EU Regulations Implementing Decree Approved

The Council of Ministers of 11 February 2026 approved, in preliminary examination, a legislative decree implementing Directive (EU) 2024/1499 on the rules concerning equality bodies in matters of equal treatment between people regardless of racial or ethnic origin, between people in matters of employment and employment regardless of religion or personal beliefs, disability, age or sexual orientation and between women and men in matters of social security and as concerns access to goods and services and their provision. In particular, the decree provides for the establishment of a new Equality Body, configured as an independent administrative authority, with regulatory, organisational, accounting and financial autonomy, which will operate without constraints of subordination or hierarchy starting from 1 January 2027.
