  • Overall Market Value: Total European sponsorship volume reached €34.45 billion (US$39.5 billion) in 2025, a 4.7 per cent year-on-year increase [1].
  • Sports Sponsorship Dominance: Sport sponsorship accounted for 72 per cent of the wider sponsorship market [1], [3].
  • Non-Sport Sector Growth: The non-sport sector saw a marginal rise, increasing from €9.49 billion (US$10.9 billion) in 2024 to €9.66 billion (US$11.1 billion) in 2025 [1].
  • Football’s Leading Role: Football remains the dominant force within sports sponsorship, commanding 54 per cent of the total, equating to just over €13 billion [3].

Regional Market Leaders and Growth

Germany and the United Kingdom remain the largest sponsorship markets in Europe, with values of €6.26 billion (US$7.18 billion) and €6.15 billion (US$7.06 billion) respectively [1]. Though, Spain experienced the fastest growth, increasing by 14 per cent to €2.18 billion (US$2.5 billion) [1], [3]. This growth was fueled by events such as the National Football League’s first game in the country and increased investment in women’s sport [1].
