Antioxidant vitamins benefit ruminants during the transition period by improving oxidative factors and directly neutralizing reactive oxygen species (ROS). They’re vital for strengthening the antioxidant defense system,lessening oxidative stress that peaks during this critical time. Vitamins A, D, and E also support cell function, boost immunity, and enhance metabolism, ultimately leading to increased milk production and improved reproductive success.
Lipids, especially polyunsaturated fatty acids, are easily damaged by reactive radicals, triggering lipid peroxidation. This process creates compounds used to measure lipid peroxidation levels. Malondialdehyde (MDA), a byproduct of lipid peroxidation, is a widely recognized biomarker for oxidative stress. Our study showed the treatment group consistently had lower MDA levels than the control group at all time points. One week before delivery,the treatment group’s average MDA was 74.43, significantly lower than the control group. this continued after delivery,wiht MDA levels at 98.98 in the treatment group versus 129.25 in the control.
Previous research supports these findings. For example, one study found that injectable ADE vitamins notably reduced MDA levels in sheep during the transition period, demonstrating the vitamins’ role in protecting cells from lipid peroxidation.These results confirm AD3EC vitamin’s effectiveness in reducing oxidative stress, especially during phases with high metabolic demands and potential stress from giving birth. other research has also shown MDA levels spike during the first week after delivery, compared to before and later postpartum. This increase coincides with the heightened energy and oxygen demands for fetal growth and colostrum production.As lactation starts, these demands increase even further.
Elevated MDA levels can also contribute to reproductive problems. Assessing antioxidant capacity considers all antioxidants in plasma and bodily fluids, providing a more complete picture than measuring individual antioxidants.
