Actress Evangeline Lilly has revealed she sustained brain damage after fainting and falling face-first onto a boulder during a trip too Hawaii last year.
Diagnosis and Confirmation
“Verdict’s in… I do have brain damage from my (traumatic brain injury). Comforting to know my cognitive decline isn’t just peri-menopause, discomforting to know what an uphill battle it will be to try to reverse the deficiencies,” the Lost actress wrote in an Instagram post on January 2nd.
In a recorded video, Lilly explained that brain scans showed decreased function in “almost every area” of her brain. Despite the challenging road ahead, she expressed determination to address the deficiencies with medical professionals, stating, “But now my job is to hit the bottom of that with the doctors and then embark on the hard work of fixing it, which I don’t look forward to as I feel like hard work is all I do. But that’s okay.”
History of Fainting Spells and Potential Causes
Lilly initially discussed the incident in a Substack post following the accident in Hawaii this past spring. She detailed a history of “fainting spells” dating back to childhood. She previously believed these episodes were related to hypoglycemia, but subsequent blood work did not support that diagnosis.
A Spiritual interpretation
Lilly has since developed a different perspective on the cause of these fainting spells. She suggests that these episodes might potentially be linked to her “little soul” reaching its limit of what it can cope with in life, leading to a temporary detachment – what she describes as her soul “leaving the building,” or “leaving the meat suit.”
Looking Ahead
Evangeline Lilly is now focused on recovery and rehabilitation, working with doctors to address the brain damage and improve cognitive function. While acknowledging the challenges ahead, she remains determined to overcome this obstacle.
