Cebolinha Signals Flamengo Exit at Season’s End

Rio de Janeiro – Flamengo forward Everton Cebolinha has indicated that the 2026 season will likely be his last with the club. The Brazilian international revealed his expectations following Flamengo’s defeat to Lanús in the Recopa Sudamericana, citing a lack of contract renewal discussions.

Contract Situation and Lack of Renewal Talks

Cebolinha’s current contract with Flamengo is set to expire in December 2026. He stated that he has not been approached by the club regarding an extension. “There hasn’t been any renewal talks at the moment. I wasn’t contacted. I believe I can affirm that this will be my last season here at Flamengo,” he said after the match against Lanús according to Globo Esporte.

Previous Interest and 2025 Performance

Concerns about Cebolinha’s future at Flamengo arose at the end of the 2025 season. However, a strong performance in the latter part of the year generated interest from other clubs, though no deals materialized. UOL Esporte reports that Flamengo even considered including Cebolinha in a potential offer for Kaio Jorge from Cruzeiro, but the offer was rejected by the opposing club.

2026 Season Performance and Competition

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Cebolinha has continued to contribute to Flamengo in 2026. He has appeared in 11 of the team’s 14 matches this season, scoring three goals. He currently faces competition for a starting position with Samuel Lino. During the match against Lanús, Cebolinha entered the game as a substitute for Lino in the second half. Terra reports that the team’s decisions on starting lineups are not communicated until the pre-match briefing.

Looking Ahead

Flamengo’s next match is scheduled for Monday against Madureira in the return leg of the Campeonato Carioca semifinal. Cebolinha’s potential departure at the end of the year will undoubtedly be a key storyline for Flamengo fans as the season progresses.
