A former police officer in Northern Ireland has been arrested following allegations of several non-recent sexual offences, as confirmed by the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland. The alleged offences, described as “serious,” also include misconduct in public office and are said to have occurred while the individual was serving as an officer with the Police Service of Northern Ireland. The arrest was made on wednesday after a complaint triggered a criminal investigation by the Ombudsman’s office.
