Security Guard Shot During Attempted Robbery at Fairview Mall in North York A security guard was critically injured Tuesday morning after confronting a suspect during an attempted robbery at a jewelry store inside Fairview Mall in North York, Toronto police confirmed. Officers were called to the mall, located at 1800 Sheppard Avenue East near Don Mills Road, at 10:05 a.m. Following reports of a shooting. The male security guard, who was in plain clothes, was found with gunshot wounds to his midsection and was rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. Toronto Police Inspector Kristy Smith said the guard was shot after confronting a fleeing suspect who had allegedly attempted to rob the jewelry store. The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a white van and was described as wearing a white medical mask, a grey hoodie and pants, and a blue baseball hat. The victim’s condition was later updated to stable, according to police. An investigation is underway, and anyone with information is urged to contact authorities. No arrests have been made at this time, and police continue to review surveillance footage and gather witness statements as part of the ongoing investigation.
