Färjestad Star Victor Ejdsell Sidelined for 4-6 Weeks with Hand Injury

Farjestad BK forward Victor Ejdsell, 31, faces a four-to-six-week recovery period after sustaining a hand injury during a 4–0 victory against Djurgården at Globen. The setback deals another blow to the club’s forward ranks, as star acquisition Marcus Johansson is already sidelined on the injury list until December due to a foot injury sustained in the third SHL match of the season.

Ejdsell’s injury occurred during Färjestad’s fifth league match of the season on Thursday night, forcing him to exit the game in the third period. Matthias Hell of Färjestads medical team provided an update on the forward’s status in a statement to the club’s website.

Ejdsell Faces Four to Six Weeks for Hand Injury

We can expect to be without him for a while. We will examine him further in the coming week, with what we know today, the healing time for this type of injury is usually around 4-6 weeks, stated Mattias Hell regarding the timeline for the hand injury. The rehabilitation period means Ejdsell is not expected to return before the international break, which begins following the Saturday round of fixtures on October 31.

Impact on the SHL Standings

Before the injury, Ejdsell had played in all five of Färjestad’s opening matches after joining the club ahead of the current season. Färjestad has started the season strongly with points in all five initial games, including four three-point victories, leaving them second in the standings with one point behind league leaders Frölunda. The team faces rival HV71 in Karlstad on Saturday evening, facing nine series matches before the upcoming break.

Farjestad will conduct further examinations on Ejdsell during the coming week to monitor his hand injury as the team prepares to navigate the autumn schedule without two of its key forwards.
