Recognizing this critical need, the Young Farmers (JA) union in the Drôme region of france recently hosted an Agricultural Installation and Professions Forum (Fima) on january 23rd. The event, strategically held at the Val de Drôme high school, aimed to encourage both agricultural entrepreneurship and employment within the broader agricultural sector.
“A farmer doesn’t work alone,” emphasized Clément Méjean, Vice-President for Installation at JA 26.”We are facing a looming shortage of farmers, and also the technicians, mechanics, and support personnel essential to modern agricultural operations. This forum is designed to promote installation – starting a farm – and highlight the diverse employment opportunities available in agriculture.”
The forum featured a wide array of agricultural education establishments,each showcasing thier training programs to attendees. This provided a comprehensive overview of the various career paths available within the agricultural world, extending beyond traditional farming roles. The event catered to individuals exploring options after completing their initial education, such as those seeking alternatives to lengthy university studies.
