– We have come to the conclusion that weighty societal considerations speak in favor of carrying out a legality check. It is indeed obvious that the municipality’s decision had errors and shortcomings, says state administrator Gina Lund.

On Tuesday afternoon, the State Administrator in Agder held a press conference in Kristiansand.

State administrator Gina Lund briefed minister of Education Kari Nessa Nordtun about the decision relating to the legality check of the family cabin.

  • The municipality’s decision is based on a wrong understanding of the dispensation rules. Farsund municipality‘s decision of 11 March 2025 is therefore invalid and revoked, says Lund.

She says that if the decision is left without being checked, it could create uncertainty about where the legal boundaries are when it comes to exemptions in the beach zone.

She also provided data on how they will deal wiht dispensation cases in the future.

We will ensure a closer involvement of the municipality in dispensation cases in the beach zone. Several lack legal grounds and justifications, says Lund.
