Fatal Traffic Collision on Fv855 in Senja Claims One Life

A fatal traffic accident occurred on Monday morning, February 19, 2026, on Fylkesvei 855 (Fv855) near Finnfjordvatnet in Senja, Norway. The collision involved a car and a truck, resulting in the death of the car’s driver.

Details of the Incident

Emergency services were alerted to the scene shortly before 7:00 AM. The accident took place on the entrance road to Finnsnes. According to Martin Berg, task leader in the Troms police district, the truck was traveling towards Finnsnes, while the car was heading in the opposite direction. The speed limit in the area is 80 km/h.

One Fatality and Injuries

Police confirmed at 8:35 AM that the driver of the car had died in the accident. Relatives have been notified. The truck driver was transported to the emergency room for treatment; the extent of their injuries remains unknown.

Road Closure and Detour

Fv855 was closed throughout the day while police conducted an investigation. A detour was established via county road 86 in the direction of Sørreisa. The Swedish Road Administration’s accident team was dispatched to the scene, and a crime scene technician also arrived to gather evidence. The road reopened later in the day after the investigation concluded.
