On September 26, 2026, Fatiha Ghersallah is organizing the “Grand loto contre le cancer pédiatrique” at the salle des fêtes in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine to support children with pediatric cancers. Ghersallah, a resident of Maurecourt in the Yvelines department, set up the charity event with backing from local organizations including Objectif réussite in Pontoise, Parenthèses et savoir, MJC Les Terrasses, and the City of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.
Medical Journey and Treatment at Gustave-Roussy
The charity drive stems from the medical journey of Ghersallah’s son, Amine, who received an osteosarcoma diagnosis at age six after persistent efforts by his parents to identify his illness. Osteosarcoma represents the most frequent type of bone cancer. Amine underwent intensive chemotherapy primarily at the Gustave-Roussy hospital in Villejuif, a facility ranked among the top global cancer centers by the American magazine Newsweek. Following these treatments, Amine returned to partial schooling, prompting his mother to describe him as “a true little miracle of life.”
School Integration and Daily Care
In September 2026, Amine entered a regular sixth-grade class at Collège Montaigne in Conflans through the ULIS (Unité localisée pour l’inclusion scolaire) program for students with disabilities. Ghersallah noted that Laurence Borrel, his primary teacher, and Mme Morin, the ULIS supervisor, welcomed the calm and composed student with significant care. Amine uses a magnetic prosthesis that allows his operated limb to lengthen at home without pain. Although he must attend regular oncology and orthopedics appointments until he turns 17, Amine maintains a resilient outlook. Despite motor challenges, he rejects the label of disabled, preferring to call himself “handicapable,” according to his mother.
Launch of Association Mission Rêve
Ghersallah and Amine plan to expand their efforts by founding the association Mission Rêve to fulfill the wishes of other sick children, with the September 26 loto serving as the initial project. The event features prizes including a bicycle, Disneyland Paris passes, Paris Saint-Germain match tickets, and a raffle box provided by Le Comptoir de Mathilde. Ghersallah thanked Sandra Merveille, director of the MJC, Mohamed Saoud and Cédric Lewatte from Objectif réussite, and individuals supporting Amine daily.
