FC Bayern Stars Honored at Munich Sports Awards

Munich, Germany – Several FC Bayern players and club officials were recently recognized at the City of Munich’s Sports Awards, marking a significant showing for the Bundesliga giants. The event, held in the Old Town Hall, celebrated achievements across various sports, with FC Bayern representatives among the honorees.

A Return to In-Person Recognition

This year’s ceremony saw a full contingent from FC Bayern in attendance, including President Herbert Hainer, Alphonso Davies, Lena Oberdorf, Alara Şehitler and Elias Harris. This contrasts with last year, when fixture clashes prevented players from attending in person. Hainer was connected live from a Euroleague basketball game at the SAP Garden during the previous event.

Hainer Highlights the Importance of Munich and Individual Achievement

President Hainer emphasized the club’s deep connection to its home city, stating, “Firstly, because we are a global club, but Munich is our home and we are particularly proud of it.” He also lauded the accomplishments of the athletes being honored, calling them “real role models.”

Hainer expressed his joy not only for the championships and titles won by Davies, Oberdorf, Şehitler, and Harris but also for the achievements of emerging talents like Nicolas Kodjoe, who won silver with Germany at the U19 Basketball World Cup, and the FCB U19 women’s table tennis and basketball teams.

“True achievement has nothing to do with the limelight, it arises from within each individual,” Hainer added, underscoring the value of dedication and personal growth.

Lena Oberdorf, a midfielder for Bayern Munich and the Germany national team, was among those honored. Oberdorf, born December 19, 2001, is considered one of the most promising young talents in women’s football, known for her versatility and ability to play in multiple positions.
