FC Villefranche Beaujolais Hosts Successful Mother-Daughter Football Event
On Thursday, March 5, 2026, Football Club Villefranche Beaujolais (FCVB) hosted a special mother-daughter evening at the Saint-Exupéry stadium, timed to coincide with the approach of International Women’s Day on March 8. The event brought together approximately 120 participants of all ages for a celebration of women’s football, sport, and community.
A Celebration of Women’s Football
The event saw participation from members across all age groups within the FCVB women’s program, from the youngest U6F team to the senior women’s squad, alongside their mothers and caregivers. A pre-registration system, including liability waivers for non-licensed participants, ensured smooth organization and participation.
International Representation in a Friendly Tournament
Ten teams, representing ten different countries, were formed for a friendly mini-tournament. Each team consisted of 11 to 12 players. Before the matches began, all participants engaged in a 5-minute collective warm-up to create a dynamic and festive atmosphere.
Honoring Women Who Shaped the Club
Five courts were dedicated and named in honor of significant women associated with the club, including Terrier Putey Meunier Forever Raty, the founder of the FCVB women’s division. This gesture recognized the contributions of individuals who have been instrumental in developing women’s football within the club.
Tournament Format and Atmosphere
The tournament comprised five matches, each lasting seven minutes, with a combination of five fixed and five rotating teams. This format allowed all participants to enjoy ample playing time in a relaxed and family-friendly environment.
A Moment of Camaraderie
The evening concluded with a “friendship glass,” providing an opportunity for participants and families to socialize and strengthen bonds. The club extended gratitude to Hervé for managing the event’s closing toast, as well as the educators from the women’s center for their support throughout the evening. Thanks were also given to the men’s teams for making their facilities available.
Initiative Praised
Metissa was commended for organizing the initiative, which successfully brought together players, mothers, and companions for an evening of sport, sharing, and community spirit. FC Villefranche Beaujolais highlighted that the event exemplified the values of sharing, conviviality, and passion for football that define the club’s women’s program.
