Federmeccanica has ended its tradition of “itinerant” assemblies. President Simone Bettini announced that the organization will now hold its annual meetings at Kilometro Rosso in Bergamo for four consecutive years.
Bettini stated that the move to Bergamo serves two purposes: leveraging the city’s status as a city of labor and utilizing a location where established companies and startups coexist. This environment is designed to attract younger generations and move the event beyond a ritualistic report to a continuous cycle of working tables that develop over 12-month periods.
The “Waves of Work” Strategy and Industrial Perception
The new format, titled “Waves of Work,” uses the metaphor of waves to describe the constant transformations of the current industrial landscape. According to Bettini, the primary goal is to increase awareness within civil society regarding the value of industrial work, which he claims is often perceived in a distorted manner due to persistent stereotypes.
The federation’s strategic action will focus on several specific thematic “waves”:
- Organizational Well-being: Focusing on the centrality of the person and welfare.
- Gender Culture: Promoting the diffusion of gender culture within the industry.
- Technological Integration: Addressing the implementation of new technologies and artificial intelligence.
Youth Engagement and the “Eureka!” Initiative
The event opens on October 22 with a dedicated segment for youth titled “Eureka! Funziona!” This portion of the program involves projects presented by more than 200 middle school students.
The first day’s plenary session will introduce a survey detailing the transformations occurring within the metalworking labor market.
