Late-Night Respite at the Yoga Studio
Ock posted several yoga-related emojis and photographs on her social media account showing her lying on a yoga mat and looking up at the night sky.
The late-night visit highlighted a quiet respite for the performer, who is known for high-energy stage performances. It also brought renewed attention to her long-standing friendship with fellow former Fin.K.L member Lee Hyori, who operates the studio.
Speaking Out on Industry Standards
The social media post follows a series of public statements Ock made regarding controversies in the South Korean musical theatre industry.
On August 7, Ock criticized the use of autotune and partial lip-syncing practices by performers, stating that crossing a moderate line constitutes fraud, as reported by Sports Chosun.
Clarifying Comments to Fans
On August 17, Ock used a fan communication platform to clarify her comments, stating that she did not mean to ban performance tuning entirely for younger singers.
During the same communication, she addressed the past “Ock Jangpan” controversy involving actor Kim Ho-young. Ock stated she is waiting for Kim to use a joint purchase of a friend’s jangpan to prove his claims, adding that the situation left deep karma affecting production companies’ reputations.
Tracing the 2022 Casting Conflict
The friction between the two performers originated in 2022 during the 10th-anniversary casting of the musical “Elisabeth.” Kim posted a message on social media reading, “The chaotic scene is a thing of the past. Now it’s Ock Jangpan,” which was widely interpreted as a jab at Ock.
Although Ock initially filed a defamation complaint against Kim, she later dropped the charges following mediation by senior actors.
Lingering Regrets Over Dropped Lawsuits
However, Ock recently stated that dropping the lawsuit remains her biggest regret.
She asserted that Kim claimed his post referred to a friend’s father’s mat promotion and that she never received an apology.
