Indonesia Blacklists LPDP Scholarship Recipients for Controversial Behavior

Jakarta – Indonesia’s Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, has permanently blacklisted Dwi Sasetningtyas and her husband, Arya Iwantoro, both recipients of the prestigious Lembaga Pengelolaan Dana Pendidikan (LPDP) scholarship, following a public outcry over their actions. The decision, announced on Monday, February 23, 2026, prevents them from future employment within the Indonesian government.

Controversial Video and Unfulfilled Obligations

The blacklist stems from a video posted by Dwi Sasetningtyas celebrating her child’s acquisition of British citizenship, a move widely perceived as insensitive given that she benefited from Indonesian public funds through the LPDP scholarship. Arya Iwantoro had not fulfilled his obligation to serve in Indonesia following the completion of his studies, as required by the LPDP program. Source: iNews.id

Permanent Ban from Government Employment

“This means they can no longer work with the government here, as long as I am here, or they will be permanently blacklisted – both of them,” Purbaya stated during a press conference on February 23, 2026. Source: Sindonews, Source: Viva.co.id
