Finn Wolfhard Jokes About Growing Up on ‘Stranger things’ During SNL Monologue
Finn Wolfhard, the stranger Things star, reflected on his unusual coming-of-age story during his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live. The 23-year-old actor humorously pointed out he was only 12 years old when the first season of the Netflix hit premiered, essentially growing up in front of a global audience.
“It feels so amazing that 400 million people got to watch me go through puberty,” he joked during his opening monologue. “What a dream.”
Wolfhard continued with self-deprecating humor, recounting milestones that unfolded on camera. “My voice changed on camera, my first kiss was on camera, and-I can’t actually believe I’m admitting this-but the first time I learned what a woman looks like down there was on camera as well,” he quipped, leading into a clip featuring one of the show’s Demogorgon monsters.
He then playfully highlighted his transition into adulthood, stating he’s now a man with facial hair (though he only has one hair) and a developing taste for alcohol (which he immediately rejected). During a segment with Hot Ones host Marcello Hernandez, Wolfhard famously spat out a drink, exclaiming, “Too spicy!”
“So yeah, meet the new me. The man me. Because I’m not a kid anymore,” Wolfhard declared, joined by his Stranger Things co-stars Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin, who echoed the sentiment.
The trio collectively asserted they are no longer child stars. “We aren’t child stars. We’re former child stars,” McLaughlin stated, with Matarazzo adding, “And anytime you read ‘former child star’ in a headline, it can only mean good things.” They then attempted a toast with the spicy beverage,with none of them appearing to enjoy the experience.
