Fire Damages Scarborough Cannabis Business

A fire broke out at a Scarborough, Maine building housing multiple businesses, including a cannabis facility, on Sunday morning, March 8, 2026. The fire was contained to a single room thanks to the building’s sprinkler system, and no injuries were reported.

Details of the Incident

The Scarborough Communications Center received a fire alarm notification from a monitoring company at approximately 10:00 a.m. On Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 10 Snow Canning Rd, according to the Scarborough Fire Department . Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke within the 76,000-square-foot building.

An “all-hands” response was initiated after crews discovered an active fire on the second floor. The sprinkler system activated and successfully contained the fire to the room where it originated, which was operating as a cannabis facility .

Fire crews worked at the scene for approximately two hours, focusing on extinguishing the fire, inspecting the affected area, and ventilating the building to remove smoke .

Collaboration and Investigation

Scarborough firefighters received assistance from departments in Old Orchard Beach, Biddeford, Saco, and Portland . The State Fire Marshal’s Office and Scarborough Code Enforcement similarly provided support.

The Office of Cannabis Policy (OCP) has been notified of the incident. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and it does not appear to be suspicious at this time .
