Firefly Animated Series in Development with Full Original Cast

Nathan Fillion, who starred as Captain Malcolm Reynolds, spearheaded the effort to bring the franchise back. He was joined at Awesome Con by Alan Tudyk (Hoban “Wash” Washburne), Gina Torres (Zoe Washburne), Jewel Staite (Kaylee Frye), Morena Baccarin (Inara Serra), Sean Maher (Simon Tam), Summer Glau (River Tam), and Adam Baldwin (Jayne Cobb). The animated reboot is being developed through Nathan Fillion’s production banner, Collision33, in partnership with 20th Television Animation. Deadline reports that Marc Guggenheim (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow) and Tara Butters (Agent Carter, Reaper) will serve as showrunners, with a completed script already in hand. The project has received a blessing from Joss Whedon, the creator of the original series, who is not directly involved in the animated production.
