Northern Light Mayo, CA Dean, and Sebasticook Valley Hospitals Graduate New Medical Assistants
Northern Light Mayo Hospital, CA Dean Hospital, and Sebasticook Valley Hospital are pleased to announce the graduation of five individuals from their medical assistant program. The graduates have begun new careers at local health centers, according to a recent announcement.
Program Completion and Ceremony
The new medical assistants received their certificates at a ceremony held at Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. The event was attended by friends, family, and hospital staff celebrating the graduates’ achievements.
The Role of a Medical Assistant
Medical assistants play a vital role in supporting physicians, family nurse practitioners, and physician associates in medical practice settings. Their duties include assisting practitioners with procedures, following up with patients on lab and test results, rooming patients, scheduling appointments, and confirming office visits. The role also provides a pathway for further education in fields like nursing and medical practice management.
Commitment to Education and Community

Nikki Chadwick’s Leadership
Nikki Chadwick was also recently honored as a Rural Healthcare Community Star at a National Rural Health Day ceremony at the State House in Augusta on November 16, 2023 Observer-ME. She is recognized for her visionary approach to nursing education and workforce development. Chadwick also serves as Vice President of Education and Preparedness at CA Dean and Sebasticook Valley Hospitals Equilar.
