TECNO Unveils Revolutionary Telephoto Technologies and Automated Imaging Lab at Future Lens 2025

December 4, 2024 – Global smartphone brand TECNO showcased significant advancements in mobile imaging at its Future Lens 2025 event, unveiling two groundbreaking telephoto technologies and a fully automated imaging laboratory. These innovations signal a shift towards more intelligent and accessible mobile photography, building upon TECNO’s established TECNO IMAGE MATRIX (TIM) architecture.

TECNO is moving beyond simply capturing light, focusing on intelligently understanding scenes through analysis of composition, subject characteristics, and emotional tone. “We’re transitioning from simply capturing light to intelligently understanding scenes,” explains Xiaohan Huang, Director of TECNO’s Image R&D Center. “Our systems now analyze composition intent, subject characteristics, and even emotional tone to deliver images that are both technically precise and emotionally resonant. this represents the next frontier where computational photography meets creative empowerment.”

Dual Breakthroughs in Telephoto Technology

The core of TECNO’s presentation revolved around two new telephoto technologies designed to redefine mobile imaging:

* dual-Mirror Reflect Telephoto: This technology delivers enhanced zoom quality within a 50% smaller module. It utilizes a coaxial optical design to overcome the challenge of balancing telephoto performance with device thickness, enabling slimmer flagship devices without compromising image quality. Beyond its compact size, the technology produces distinctive “doughnut-shaped” bokeh effects, offering artistic expression and strong low-light performance.
* Freeform Continuum Telephoto: This innovation provides true continuous optical zoom across a 1x to 9x range.Unlike traditional multi-camera systems that rely on digital cropping, the Freeform Continuum Telephoto maintains image integrity at all focal lengths, delivering consistently sharp details. This eliminates the jarring “focal jumps” often experienced with conventional zoom, providing a smooth, professional-grade zoom experience.

Automated Imaging Lab & DXOMARK Collaboration

TECNO also revealed its fully automated imaging laboratory, developed in collaboration with DXOMARK, a leading authority in camera and lens testing. This lab is the first to implement DXOMARK’s advanced DXOMARK Camera V6 testing automated lab solutions. This collaboration establishes a new scientific benchmark for smartphone imaging and aims to accelerate the advancement of more inclusive, precise, and standardized camera technology through automation.

Future Focus: Accessible Innovation

Looking ahead,TECNO remains committed to integrating advanced optical systems with AI-powered imaging technologies. The company plans to continue collaborating with global research institutions and leveraging its advanced testing facilities to deliver personalized and authentic imaging experiences.

Guided by its “Stop at Nothing” ethos, TECNO aims to push the boundaries of mobile photography, making professional-quality imaging accessible to a wider global audience.
