After the Club World Cup, in 2025, in the United States, Flamengo and Al-Hilal, who participate in the event; they negotiated the loan of Marcos Leonardo to the Rio club. There were two weeks of negotiations.
However, on August 30th, the Red and Blacks received a WhatsApp message from the attacker’s representatives. In it, an almost apology and explanation: the player wanted to fulfill his family’s dream, playing for São Paulo.
Since then no new contact has been made. Thus, Flamengo no longer tried to sign Marcos Leonardo for the simple reason that the player showed no interest in wearing the shirt of the Brazilian champion and the Libertadores.
