London International Airport in southwestern Ontario is preparing for a substantial increase in flight service this summer, with overall operations expected to roughly double compared to recent seasons. The expansion, announced by airport officials, reflects growing travel demand and strategic adjustments by major Canadian airlines.
Air Canada and WestJet Expand Summer Schedules
The summer 2026 schedule at London International Airport (YXU) features notable increases from Air Canada, and WestJet. Air Canada will operate four daily flights between London and Toronto Pearson International Airport effective June 1, an increase from the current three daily flights. This adjustment follows an initial announcement of five daily flights, which was later corrected by the airport.
WestJet is also adding more flights as part of the expanded service, though specific details on the frequency of WestJet’s increased service were not included in the available announcements. According to Scott McFadzean, CEO of the Greater London International Airport Authority, the increase in flights results from a combination of heightened community demand and the airport’s effort to capitalize on the traditionally busy summer travel season.
“It’s a combination of increased demand from the community and the greater southwestern Ontario region, but also taking advantage of the summer being a very busy travel season,” McFadzean said. “It’s an opportunity for more people to start their trip based in London and then connect to anywhere else in the world they aim for to go through Toronto Pearson.”
