Italian DJ Charged With Assault After Train Ticket Dispute Faces Court Delay

A 41-year-old Italian DJ residing in Florida faces criminal charges in Italy after allegedly pushing a Trenord ticket conductor to the ground following a fare dispute aboard a regional train, La Provincia di Cremona reported. The trial, proceeding in Cremona, has been postponed until April 5, 2027, to allow the Italian Consulate in Miami to properly serve court notifications across the Atlantic.

Incident on the Milan-Mantova Regional Train

The altercation occurred on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, aboard regional train number 10601 traveling from Milan to Mantova. After the train pulled into the Cremona station and the passenger stepped off, a 30-year-old Trenord employee approached him to request a valid ticket. According to court charges, the passenger grew angry over the check and, following an animated discussion, repeatedly shoved the railway employee until he fell to the ground.

The defendant, identified in court records as a 41-year-old DJ defended by attorney Francesco Cogrossi, is formally accused of violence against a public service worker during the exercise of their profession. Neither the defendant nor the 30-year-old Trenord employee attended the recent court hearing, though the railway worker was represented in the courtroom by her lawyer.

Italian authorities serve trial notice to Florida resident

Although the accused man officially maintains a registered address in the Cremona area, he currently lives in Florida. The Italian Consulate General in Miami previously served him notice of the conclusion of preliminary investigations issued out of Cremona. Judicial authorities must now serve him official trial notification through the same diplomatic channel, complying with Article 37 of Legislative Decree No. 71 of February 3, 2011, which governs judicial cooperation and the service of documents abroad.
