Florida Golf Tied for Third at Southern Highlands Collegiate
LAS VEGAS – The No. 3 Florida men’s golf team is tied for third at 5-under through the opening round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Sunday. The tournament is being held at the Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Tournament Overview
A highly competitive field consisting of nine top-25 and the top-4 ranked schools, Florida opened with a team round of 283 (-5) and is tied with Washington. No. 1 Virginia (-10) leads the tournament, followed by Auburn (-6) after 18 holes. All 15 teams competing are ranked inside the top-46 nationally.
Individual Performances
Jack Turner led the Gators with a 4-under 68, tying him for fourth place. Turner made three consecutive birdies between holes 11-13 and added another on the par-4 16th. He is three shots behind Virginia’s Paul Chang (-6), who holds the lead.
Parker Sands shot a 2-under 70 and is tied for 14th. Zack Swanwick regrouped after early double-bogeys to finish at even par (72), while Matthew Kress carded a 73 (+1). Noah Kent shot a 74 (+2), and Trevor Gutschewski, competing as an individual, finished with a 76 (+4).
