Florida gymnastics generated its second-highest score of the 2026 season Friday night and still suffered its first home loss in over two years.
Such is life in college gymnastics when facing the machine from Norman also known as Oklahoma gymnastics.
The Sooners won in Gainesville for the first time since 2010. It ended a streak of three straight losses in Alachua County and remained unbeaten with a 198.075-197.575 win over the Gators. Florida has now lost back-to-back meets for the first time since 2006 after last week’s defeat to Missouri.
UF dug itself into a hole with vault. The event that’s been the Achilles’ heel for Florida proved to be that way once again with a 48.975. The Gators recovered very well. This included a 49.650 on bars (a nation high score), but Oklahoma is not the type of team against which you can come back.
The Sooners remained untouchable, such as a 49.700 to cap off the meet on beam.

Rotation 1: Florida gymnastics (Vault) 48.975; Oklahoma (Bars) 49.450
Not the ideal start for the Gators looking for the upset win. Florida suffers vault falls to begin from Kayla DiCello and to anchor from Selena Harris-Miranda. UF is forced to count DiCello’s score and finishes with its second lowest valt score of the season and lowest at home. Meanwhile, the Sooners looked strong on their “worst” event of the four and holds a sizeable lead after the first rotation.
Rotation 2: Florida gymnastics (Bars) 49.650, 98.625; Oklahoma (Vault) 49.425, 98.875
Gators orchestrate one heck of a comeback and score a 49.650 on the bars. Riley McCusker anchors the rotation with a 9.975. Kayla DiCello tallies a 9.950 and Skye Blakely a 9.925. Oklahoma holds its lead thanks in part to a 10 from Addison Fatta. However, Florida cuts into the lead substantially and trails by 0.250 halfway through the meet.
Rotation 3: Florida gymanstics (Beam) 49.500, 148.125; Oklahoma (Floor) 49.500, 148.375
Another impressive event from the Gators. Selena Harris-Miranda scores the event high so far with a 9.950, even though judges easily could have scored her a 10. Regardless, a 9.925 to end from OU’s Kamila Pawlak prevents UF from cutting into the Sooner lead. It remains an Oklahoma lead by 0.250 as the Gators head to the floor.
Rotation 4: Florida gymnastics (Floor) 49.450, 197.575; Oklahoma (Beam) 49.700, 198.075
Florida gymnastics generates a solid final event, but the Sooners are just too much to handle, especially on the beam. OU scores a phenomenal 49.700 to top the 198 plateau for the fourth time this season and first time on the road. Criticism from the judges only amplified for Florida on the floor as Skye Blakely and Selena Harris-Miranda are given a 9.950 and 9.975 instead of 10s. A lot of positives, though, for the Orange and Blue even in defeat as they proved they could hang with the powerhouse Sooners.
