Blood Donation Rates Decline in Fontenay-le-Comte, Honoring Long-Time Donors

Fontenay-le-Comte, Vendée – Local blood donation rates have seen a concerning decrease, with 603 donations recorded in 2025 compared to 697 the previous year, according to the association for voluntary blood donation. Despite the decline, the association recently recognized three dedicated donors – Georges Zimmer, Raynald Fleury, and Stéphane Guilbaud – for their commitment to saving lives.

Georges Zimmer, Raynald Fleury, and Stéphane Guilbaud were honored at the association’s general assembly, receiving diplomas and insignia from association president Raynald Fleury. Zimmer, a long-time donor, explained his motivation stemmed from a company initiative at EDF, where he worked. He volunteered to donate, believing his blood could potentially save others.
