Former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke Joins Apiiro as Strategic Advisor
GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke stepped down a few months ago. He’s returning to the industry now.
Dohmke recently accepted a position as a strategic advisor to Apiiro, a startup focused on helping organizations monitor the security of their applications and codebases.
He will concentrate on assisting Apiiro in developing new safeguards for AI-generated software code.
The increasing use of AI coding tools raises concerns about potential vulnerabilities in codebases and heightened cybersecurity risks.
Dohmke explained that developers frequently utilize multiple AI coding agents, and these tools often lack awareness of the specific policies, rules, and security measures established by their employers.
Apiiro’s technology integrates with companies’ code-management systems, providing essential context for AI code generation, he stated.
“that’s the crucial aspect,” Dohmke added, emphasizing that Apiiro can identify and automatically resolve such issues in code, ensuring developers adhere to company guidelines without increasing their workload.
Apiiro has secured over $100 million in funding from investors, including General Catalyst, Greylock, and Kleiner Perkins. CEO Idan Plotnik has a history of successfully launching and selling startups, and previously held a cybersecurity executive role at Microsoft.
Dohmke also comes from Microsoft, which owns GitHub. He shared that he first met Plotnik approximately three years ago and was impressed by his vision.
