Former NASCAR Champion Jamie McMurray Sells Lake Norman Estate for $9.2 Million
Former NASCAR driver and Daytona 500 champion Jamie McMurray sold his Lake Norman mansion in Mooresville for $9.2 million on Oct. 15, according to its listing by Charlotte-based Corcoran HM Properties. The transaction concludes more than a year on the market for the waterfront property, which initially listed in August 2025 with an asking price of $12 million. The final sale price sits $2.8 million below that initial target, following a $1 million price cut in March that brought the asking price down to $10.995 million.
A Property Built for Privacy and Scale Along Lake Norman
The gated estate sits on 33.6 acres in the 400 block of Beech Tree Road off Brawley School Road in southern Iredell County. Charlotte architect Harry Schrader designed the residence, and Charlotte custom home builder Arcadia Homes completed the red-brick, block and stone mansion in 2015.
The 7,612-square-foot interior features five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms. The open floor plan includes an entrance foyer, a kitchen island, a walk-in pantry, and walk-in closets. Exterior amenities comprise a fire pit, an outdoor kitchen, a pool house, a private dock, four garages, and a resort-style pool surrounded by turf.
Listing Broker Reflects on a Challenging Real Estate Market
Listing broker Josh Tucker with Corcoran HM Properties noted the unique nature of the transaction. Tucker emailed the Charlotte Business Journal to explain the sales process.
We knew when listing this property it would take some time to find the right buyer,
Tucker said. Not just because it is a challenging real estate market right now but because this property was unique in the regard that it offered acreage as well as access to Lake Norman, a rare find.
Tucker added that the team felt excited to find a buyer who appreciated the property and equally excited for McMurray to close that chapter.
McMurray Retires from NASCAR to Work as Analyst
McMurray accumulated a 17-year NASCAR Cup Series career that included victories at the 2010 Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the 2015 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. He retired in 2019 and currently works as a NASCAR analyst for FOX Sports and the CW Network.
Public Iredell County online property tax records do not yet list the identity of the buyer.
