Forza Horizon 6 Races onto Xbox and PC with a Japanese Setting
The next installment in the popular Forza Horizon series, Forza Horizon 6, is set to launch in 2026, bringing the open-world racing experience to Japan. Developed by Playground Games and Turn 10, the game will initially be available for PC and Xbox consoles, with a later release planned for PlayStation 5.
Japan as the New Horizon
Forza Horizon 6 marks the first time the series has been set in Japan, a location frequently requested by fans since the original Forza Horizon game. The game aims to capture the distinctive roads and landscapes of Japan, blending urban environments like Tokyo with rural countryside and mountainous regions, including Mount Fuji.
Gameplay and Features
Early gameplay footage, showcased during an IGN First exclusive, features a Saleen S7 navigating a portion of the Japan-based map. The game promises more cars than ever before at launch, a progression system inspired by the original 2012 Forza Horizon, and enhanced customization options. The Tokyo City area is expected to be the most complex and intricate drivable space in any Horizon game to date.
Release Dates and Editions
Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled for release on May 19, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S and PC (via the Microsoft Store and Steam). Players who purchase the Premium Edition will gain Early Access starting May 15, 2026. A release on PlayStation 5 is planned for later in the year.
Technical Advancements
The decision to set Forza Horizon 6 in Japan was facilitated by recent technical advancements, particularly those developed during the Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels DLC, which aided in creating the elevated roads of Tokyo City.
