Released in 2023 as a reboot of Xbox’s old sim racing franchise, Forza motorsport was initially planned to have long-term content support. However, the market response which was less than satisfactory made the development direction change. Although Turn 10 remains operational, their internal focus has now shifted to the Forza Horizon series which has proven to be stronger commercially.
## Forza Motorsport Development Halted as Focus Shifts to Forza Horizon 6
Turn 10 Studios has announced it will no longer be actively developing new content for *Forza Motorsport*, including new cars, tracks, features, or regular bug fixes. The team is now redirecting its resources to the development of *Forza Horizon 6*, currently slated for release in 2026, as confirmed in a recent blog post on Forza.net.
Despite the cessation of major development, *Forza Motorsport* will not be abandoned entirely. Turn 10 assures players that online servers will remain operational, adn online events and competitions will continue. Furthermore, the popular Featured Tours and car rewards will return on a monthly basis until all previously promised content is made available to players.
The studio will transition to a co-development role for *Forza Horizon 6*, supporting Playground Games, the British studio leading the development of the next *Horizon* title. This decision signals an earlier-than-expected conclusion to the current *Forza Motorsport* reboot and clarifies microsoft’s long-term strategy for the *Forza* racing franchise.
