Devin Cleveland Commits to Missouri Basketball for the 2027 Recruiting Class
Four-star combo guard Devin Cleveland announced his commitment to the Missouri Tigers during a CBS Sports broadcast, choosing the program over finalists Michigan and TCU. Ranked No. 30 nationally in the 2027 class, the 6-foot-3 Chicago native gives coach Dennis Gates a major addition to the team’s future backcourt.
Campus Visit and Relationship With Dennis Gates
Cleveland took an official visit to Columbia on October 3, attending Missouri’s Homecoming weekend and the Tigers’ football game against Florida. The trip allowed the La Lumiere School prospect to evaluate the campus atmosphere as he narrowed his choices. The relationships he developed with Gates and the coaching staff played a central role in his recruitment. Cleveland received his scholarship offer from Missouri on May 15 and maintained weekly contact with the staff. He noted that Gates stood out by communicating like a regular person and pointing out areas for improvement.

Backcourt Partners and National Recruiting Rankings
Cleveland joins fellow four-star guard Scottie Adkinson in Missouri’s 2027 recruiting class. 247Sports National Basketball Director Eric Bossi described Cleveland as a lean, lanky combo guard who stretches defenses from deep and provides playmaking, noting that his smooth style pairs well with Adkinson’s aggressive approach. With the addition of four-star forward Cameron Barnes, the No. 98-ranked prospect in the cycle, Missouri holds a composite team score of 61.95, ranking second nationally behind Houston, as 247sports.com detailed.
On-Court Profile and Competitive Goals
During the Nike EYBL circuit this summer, Cleveland led Brad Beal Elite in scoring by averaging 16.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 0.8 steals per game, helping the team reach the Peach Jam Tournament. In his commitment remarks, Cleveland outlined what he aims to bring to the Southeastern Conference program. He stated that he intends to offer hard work, community commitment, and a focus on competing for championships upon his arrival in Columbia.
