Survive Your Family: Dutch Families Battle it Out in Colombian Wilderness

Four prominent Dutch families are set to test their bonds and survival skills in the fresh adventure-reality program, Survive Your Family, premiering on SBS6 on April 16, 2026. The display, hosted by Art Rooijakkers, will notice families separated in the Colombian wilderness, with one half navigating the jungle and the other remaining in a base camp.

The Challenge

The premise of Survive Your Family centers around a split-family dynamic. While half of each family is dropped into the Colombian jungle with minimal supplies, the other half stays at a base camp. The jungle-bound family members rely entirely on the success of their counterparts in the base camp for food, water, and essential tools. The first family to reunite in the base camp after eight grueling stages will be crowned the winner.

The Competing Families

The competition will feature a diverse group of Dutch families, each bringing their unique dynamics to the challenge:

• The de Boer Family: Led by former football star Ronald de Boer, alongside his daughters Demi and Maxime, and nephew Bowey.
• The Masmeijer Family: Featuring Frank Masmeijer, his daughters Charlotte and Michelle, and son-in-law Stijn.
• Broederliefde: Represented by all four members of the hip-hop group – Emms, Jerr, Sjaf, and Edson.
• The Van Dorsten Family: Comprising Edino, Glory, Shin, and Triuna, who gained recognition from the documentary Kinderen van Ruinerwold (Children of Ruinerwold).

A Test of Family Bonds

Survive Your Family aims to explore the strength of family relationships in an extreme environment. The show promises to reveal new insights and test the limits of familial bonds as the families navigate the challenges of the jungle and the pressures of the competition. The program will highlight the parallel worlds of the jungle survival and the base camp strategy.
