Revo Hospitality Group Bankruptcy: Frankfurt Hotels Close Amidst Financial Strain
Frankfurt, Germany – The insolvency of Revo Hospitality Group, one of Europe’s largest hotel operators, is impacting the hospitality landscape in Frankfurt, with several hotels ceasing operations. The closures arrive after the company filed for insolvency for approximately 140 entities in January 2026, signaling significant financial difficulties.
Hotel Closures in Frankfurt
As of February 16, 2026, three hotels in Frankfurt and one in Wolfsburg have announced closures as a direct result of the Revo Hospitality Group’s insolvency proceedings. These include:
- Aedenlife Hotel & Resort (Rügen): Operations were suspended on February 16, 2026.
- Mövenpick Hotel Frankfurt City: The hotel hosted its last guests on February 15, 2026.
- Centrio National Frankfurt by Wyndham: Rooms are no longer available for booking at this location.
- Centro Hotel Atlanta by Wyndham (Wolfsburg): Cannot be renovated under self-management.
Insolvency Proceedings and Restructuring
Revo Hospitality Group, formerly known as HR Group until April 2025, filed for insolvency in Eigenverwaltung (self-administration) for around 140 of its companies in mid-January. This allows the company to restructure its debts while continuing operations. However, for four entities, including the aforementioned hotels, a formal insolvency administrator was appointed to oversee the process, ultimately leading to the decision to close these locations. Tagesschau reports that the group operates around 200 hotels in twelve countries.
Factors Contributing to the Insolvency
The Revo Hospitality Group cited several industry-wide challenges as contributing factors to its financial woes. These include:
- Increased labor costs
- Higher rental rates
- Rising energy and food prices
- Rapid expansion leading to duplicated structures and integration issues
The company failed to meet its projected revenue targets for 2025. Frankfurter Neue Presse notes that the group employed approximately 5,500 people as of mid-January.
Impact on Travelers
The insolvency of Revo Hospitality Group creates uncertainty for travelers with existing bookings. While the company initially stated that remaining hotels would remain open and bookings would be honored, insolvency proceedings can lead to short-term closures. Travelers are advised to contact their hotels directly to confirm their reservations before traveling. T-Online reports that guests with existing bookings are being informed.
