Assassin’s Creed Takeover: Six Games Free to Play on Xbox This Weekend
Xbox players can immerse themselves in the world of assassins and Templars this weekend with a special Free Play Days event dedicated to the Assassin’s Creed franchise. From Thursday, April 2nd, to Monday, April 6th, 2026, six titles from Ubisoft’s acclaimed series will be available to play at no cost, without requiring an Xbox Game Pass membership.
Free Play Days Lineup
The following Assassin’s Creed games are included in the Free Play Days event:
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
- Assassin’s Creed Unity
- Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
- Assassin’s Creed Origins
- Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage (with a 2-hour limited timed trial)
Enhanced Visuals on Xbox Series X
For Xbox Series X owners, all six titles are now playable in stunning 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, offering a visually enhanced gaming experience. Xbox Wire confirms this performance upgrade.
Discounts Available
Players who wish to continue their adventures beyond the Free Play Days period can capture advantage of discounts of up to 85% on the featured games and other editions in the Ubisoft Store and Microsoft Store. Pure Xbox reports that even titles not included in the Free Play Days event, such as the original Assassin’s Creed, are available at reduced prices.

How to Access the Games
To start playing, navigate to the individual game details pages on Xbox.com and install the games. Players must be signed in to the Microsoft Store with their Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential membership to see the installation option. Progress Carries Over
