Genk Couple Marries After Facebook Block Led to Accidental Salon Reunion
Nearly four years after a digital rejection sparked an unlikely romance, Eugenio Spiga, 41, and Kyoma Cordaro, 35, of Genk, have officially tied the knot, HBVL reported. The couple’s unconventional journey began when Spiga reached out to Cordaro on Facebook after learning she was single following the end of her previous marriage to a former soccer teammate.
Cordaro immediately blocked Spiga on the social media platform, viewing the unsolicited message as inappropriate given her recent breakup. Days later, however, the pair crossed paths unexpectedly while sitting side by side in a hair salon in Waterschei, where Cordaro was waiting for her young son’s haircut to finish. The awkward encounter shifted the dynamic entirely, prompting Cordaro to unblock Spiga upon returning home and send him a message that quickly led to their first official date at La Cavallina, an Italian restaurant in As.
From Accidental Meeting to Business Partners and Family Life
Within a month of their chance encounter at the hair salon, Cordaro and Spiga were officially a couple, and Spiga had moved into Cordaro’s home. By December 1, 2023, the couple expanded their partnership into the professional sphere by opening Ristorante Da Kygenio on Schietboomstraat in the center of Genk, combining their names and their extensive backgrounds in the hospitality industry.
On Christmas Eve of that same year, Spiga proposed to Cordaro with a ring hidden inside the final holiday gift in the presence of both sets of parents. The couple now manages a blended household of six children under one roof, including their two-year-old son, Amauri, Cordaro’s three children, and Spiga’s two children.
