From Rural Cusco to Global Tech: The Story of Dheivis Jara

Dheivis Yury Jara Vilca, a Peruvian entrepreneur who grew up in the Andean communities of Cusco, has built a pathway from rural farming to founding internationally focused technology startups, according to profiles published by the Programa Nacional de Becas y Crédito Educativo (Pronabec). His journey from helping his family cultivate crops and raise livestock to scaling education and artificial intelligence platforms highlights how regional talent in Peru is entering the global tech economy.

From Rural Cusco to Civil Engineering Excellence

Jara Vilca’s story traces back to the communities of Alto Pichigua district in Espinar province, Cusco, where he balanced daily farm chores with a strong commitment to reading, as noted by Pronabec. Encouraged by his mother to pursue education as a means to achieve his goals, he targeted university admission despite financial hurdles. In 2012, he discovered a Pronabec Beca 18 announcement posted on a pole, securing a government scholarship to study Civil Engineering at the Universidad Nacional de San Antonio Abad del Cusco.

Completing his studies in four years while finishing at the top of his faculty, Jara Vilca encountered broader business concepts during his university tenure. According to public accounts of his career, those academic years exposed him to the mechanics of company formation and the startup ecosystem, planting the seeds for his entrepreneurial ventures.

Scaling Konstruedu and Transitioning to Netzun

Identifying outdated procedures within the construction sector, Jara Vilca launched Konstruedu, a virtual education platform focused on modern methodologies like Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Lean Construction. Within three years, the platform expanded across 25 countries—including Peru, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, and Chile—accumulating over 50,000 students.

The growth caught the attention of larger edtech players. In July 2025, online education platform Netzun, which serves more than 1.6 million students at the global level, acquired Konstruedu, absorbing it into its corporate portfolio. Prior to the acquisition, Forbes Perú named Konstruedu one of the country’s top 100 startups in both 2022 and 2024.

Launching Wirana.ai and Earning International Recognition

Following the exit of Konstruedu, Jara Vilca and his team established Wirana.ai, a startup that deploys artificial intelligence agents to automate sales processes for small and medium-sized businesses via WhatsApp. The venture quickly secured clients in Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, while capturing the top prize at the IV Festival Latinoamericano de Innovación y Tecnología.

Building on these tech initiatives, Jara Vilca was selected as a Young Leader of the Americas participant, traveling to the United States in April 2026 for specialized training in artificial intelligence, robotics, and machine learning. Reflecting on his trajectory from the Andes to international startup circles, he maintains that rural origins do not limit global ambition.

“No importa dónde estés, si tú realmente puedes encontrar una idea de negocio, la puedes ejecutar, pero eso sí, hay que dedicarse de lleno para poder hacerlo,” Jara Vilca stated, emphasizing that starting from a rural zone is not an impediment to creating world-scale technology.
