609 Rushing Yards Cut Short by Season-Ending Foot and Ankle Injuries
Florida State running back Ousmane Kromah will miss the rest of the 2026 season after suffering fractures and dislocations in his left foot and ankle during a 43-35 double-overtime loss to Miami on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026. Kromah led the Seminoles with 609 rushing yards and five touchdowns prior to the injury.
The sophomore running back sustained the damage in the second quarter while finishing a nine-yard carry to the Miami 2-yard line, where he was tackled. Kromah attempted to leave the field under his own power but could not put weight on his left leg before collapsing to the turf, prompting the Florida State medical staff to apply an air cast and cart him away.
Surgery in Miami and Roster Shuffles in Tallahassee
Following the game, Kromah remained in Miami overnight to undergo surgery, according to an official statement from Florida State released on Oct. 18, 2026. Surgeons inserted metal plates and screws to stabilize the bones connecting his left foot and ankle before he returned to Tallahassee on Sunday afternoon.
The Seminoles now face mounting backfield pressure with both Kromah and backup Samuel Singleton sidelined. Singleton has not played since a Week 3 game against Alabama, leaving the team thin at the position following the recent dismissal of Gemari Sands and leaving Texas transfer Quintrevion Wisner to take over the starting workload alongside true freshman Amari Thomas.
Upcoming Schedule and Bye Week Adjustments
Florida State enters its second bye week with a 3-4 overall record and a 1-3 mark in ACC play. The Seminoles will use the open week to adjust their offensive rotation before returning to Doak Campbell Stadium on Oct. 31, 2026, to face Clemson.
