Samsung Galaxy S26 Series: Exynos 2600 Matches Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Performance

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Samsung asserts that the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ smartphones will deliver performance comparable to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, despite utilizing a different chip. Even as the Galaxy S26 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the Galaxy S26 and S26+ employ the Samsung-manufactured Exynos 2600 chip.

Exynos 2600: A Competitive Chipset

According to Ilham Indrawan, Senior Manager of Product Marketing at Samsung Electronics Indonesia, the Exynos 2600 is built on a 2nm chip architecture, which is smaller than the 3nm architecture of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. “This chipset can even match the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. That’s both in single-core and even multi-core aspects,” Indrawan stated. He further added, “In some scenarios it’s even better. Especially in generating AI. Generating AI is similarly very capable.”

A smaller chip size allows for denser transistor components, correlating with increased performance and power efficiency.

Performance Benchmarks

Recent benchmark tests indicate a close performance between the two chipsets. The Galaxy S26 Ultra, equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, achieved a single-core score of 3,670 and a multi-core score of 10,981. The Galaxy S26+, featuring the Exynos 2600, recorded a single-core score of 3,105 and a multi-core score of 10,444.

While devices with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 are considered approximately 10 percent superior, the difference is typically subtle in everyday employ, manifesting in slight variations in application loading speeds or navigation responsiveness.

Comparable Performance Across the S26 Series

Based on benchmark results, Samsung believes the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ offer performance that rivals the highest-complete models in the S series. “So the class is not a different class. This is a class that is truly equivalent to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5,” Indrawan emphasized.
