Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 Receive One UI 8.5 Beta Update
Samsung is expanding the One UI 8.5 beta program to include its latest foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. The rollout, which began with the Galaxy S25 series in December, now extends to these 2025 flagship foldables, offering users an early look at Samsung’s newest mobile interface.
One UI 8.5 Beta: What’s New?
The initial One UI 8.5 beta release for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 is currently live in South Korea and India. The update weighs approximately 4.2GB for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and includes the February 2026 security patch. Samsung plans to expand the beta program to additional countries, including the UK, Germany, the US, and Poland, in the coming weeks.
Users interested in participating in the beta program can enroll through the Samsung Members app. Simply locate the beta banner within the app and follow the instructions to join. After enrollment, the update can be downloaded and installed via Settings > Software update > Download and install.
Even as specific changes are still emerging, the One UI 8.5 update brings enhancements to several key areas, including Galaxy AI, Bixby, Samsung Health, Quick Share, and the overall user interface. The update includes continuous image generation within the Photo Assist feature, allowing for uninterrupted AI image creation. Bixby receives improvements for smarter device control, and refinements are made to Samsung Health and Quick Share functionality.
Android 16 and Future Updates
One UI 8.5 is based on Android 16 QPR2. Samsung has been actively beta testing this update for the Galaxy S25 series since December, with seven beta builds released prior to the expected stable update later in March or early April. Looking ahead, development is already underway on Android 17-based One UI 9, which is anticipated to introduce further visual updates to Samsung’s widgets and Now Bar.
