Gastroenterology Position Opens Between Aubagne Hospital and La Timone University Hospital
A specialist position in gastroenterology will be available starting in November 2026, shared between the Centre Hospitalier d’Aubagne and the Hôpital de la Timone in Marseille. This unique role offers a diverse and stimulating clinical environment, combining local healthcare with access to cutting-edge academic expertise.
Aubagne Hospital: General Gastroenterology and Digestive Oncology
At the Centre Hospitalier d’Aubagne, the position will be based in a general hepato-gastroenterology department with a focus on digestive oncology, including both consultation and day hospitalization services. The role will encompass digestive endoscopy, including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as polypectomies and mucosectomies, as well as dilation and placement of digestive prostheses. Regular duties will include video capsule readings, pH-metry, screening, and proctology.
The department operates with a team of three active and available doctors, supported by a dynamic endoscopy and day hospitalization team. Endoscopy activity is currently scheduled in the mornings, with potential for expansion into the afternoon.
La Timone University Hospital: Hyperspecialized Expertise
The La Timone University Hospital provides access to highly specialized medical care, including level 3 endoscopy with therapeutic ultrasound endoscopy, biliopancreatic catheterization, and complex submucosal dissection/mucosectomies. The hospital likewise boasts significant expertise in gastroenterological, pancreatic, and oncogenetic pathologies (polyposis), as well as intestinal insufficiency, supported by a leading-edge artificial nutrition center. This expertise is part of a rare disease competence center.
The position will involve participation in digestive oncology RCPs (multidisciplinary meetings), including cases of peritoneal diseases, esophageal and thoracic cancers, and neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Access to a high-level medical-radio-surgical digestive staff will be available. The service is structured with four endoscopy rooms and provides both full and day hospitalization options.
