Mayor Kulenski praised the swift response of local authorities and volunteers, stating, “Here is the moment to thank the mayors of Gelemenovo and Saraya, the teams of Irrigation Systems, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Fire Department, the regional administration, volunteers, as well as the owners of quarries and construction companies, who provided construction mechanization and rock mass, and thanks to their quick reaction, the dam of Telki Dere was strengthened in the compromised sections and more serious consequences for the settlement were prevented.”

Crews from the Irrigation Systems are continuing to reinforce the levee throughout the night as the water level recedes. An interdepartmental commission will assess the damage caused by the flooding, and a plan for cleanup and repairs will be implemented.
