Gemini’s Task Automation Rolls Out to Pixel 10 Series

Following its initial availability on the Galaxy S26, Gemini screen automation is now available on the Pixel 10 series as part of the March 2026 Feature Drop. This feature allows Gemini to automate multi-step tasks within compatible apps, streamlining everyday digital interactions.

What Gemini Automation Can Do

Gemini’s screen automation can now book rides and order food or groceries through a growing list of supported applications, including Lyft, Uber, Uber Eats, GrubHub, DoorDash, and Starbucks. Users can initiate tasks with simple voice commands, such as:

  • “Book a ride to the airport”
  • “Schedule a ride for tomorrow”
  • “Reorder my last coffee”
  • “Order pizza for delivery”
  • “Add milk and eggs to my grocery cart”
  • “Order groceries to my mom’s house”

The system similarly supports more specific requests, like “order a strawberry acai lemonade refresher and sausage, cheddar, & egg sandwich.”

How It Works

Upon first launch, users will be prompted to agree to “Get tasks done with Gemini.” Once enabled, a “Working on this task” card and a system notification labeled “Task in progress” will appear. Users can monitor the process by selecting “View progress,” which opens a secure virtual window displaying Gemini’s actions, or they can choose to “Stop task” at any time. The automation runs within a secure, virtual window on the Pixel, with all processing occurring in the cloud.

Usage Limits

Google has implemented usage limits for Gemini’s task automation, tiered based on subscription level:

  • Free: 5 requests/day
  • AI Plus: 12 requests/day
  • AI Pro: 20 requests/day
  • AI Ultra: 120 requests/day

Security and Control

Gemini may request follow-up information, such as preferred store or drink size, before finalizing a purchase. Users retain ultimate control, as they are prompted to complete the final purchase step themselves. The necessary system permissions can be confirmed within the Gemini app settings (Settings > Screen automation).

Availability

The rollout of Gemini screen automation is currently underway on the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL running Android 16 QPR3 (March 2026) in the United States. The setting has also been observed on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, despite not being officially listed as a supported device.
