George Mason’s Tate Anderson Named to A-10 All-Academic Team

FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason senior Tate Anderson has been selected to the Atlantic 10 Men’s Swimming and Diving All-Academic Team, the conference announced on Friday.

Anderson, a clinical science major from Fuquay-Varina, N.C., achieved significant success at the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championships, earning a total of seven medals. His accomplishments included three individual medals – a gold in the 200-yard IM, and silver medals in both the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle – and four relay medals (two gold, one silver, and one bronze).

Championship Performance

Anderson secured the A-10 Championship title in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:44.78. He as well earned silver medals in the 100-yard freestyle (42.79) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:34.12).

He played a key role in the Patriots’ relay victories, contributing to a gold medal and a new A-10 and program record in the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:23.83). Anderson also helped the team win gold in the 400-yard medley relay (3:08.34), silver in the 400-yard freestyle relay (2:53.98), and bronze in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:18.51).

Season Highlights

Throughout the season, Anderson consistently performed at a high level, achieving 21 top-three finishes, including 11 first-place finishes, nine second-place finishes, and one third-place finish.

Anderson also competed at the U.S. Open Championships, where he participated in the 200-yard freestyle, 50-yard freestyle, and 100-yard freestyle, finishing 21st in the finals of the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.81.

Prior to the 2026 championship, Anderson earned three top three finishes at the 2025 championship, including second place in the 200-yard IM and 200-yard freestyle according to the Atlantic 10. He was also part of the relay team that won the 800-yard freestyle relay at the 2025 championship, setting a team and conference record with a time of 6:24.73 as reported by GMU Fourth Estate.
