Gerry Scotti Embraces Electric Mobility with Alpine A290
Italian television personality Gerry Scotti, known for hosting popular quiz shows like Chi vuol essere milionario? (Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?) and La ruota della fortuna (The Wheel of Fortune), has added the Alpine A290 electric vehicle to his personal collection. This move signals a growing interest in sustainable transportation for the veteran presenter.
A Shift Towards Electric
Scotti recently examined the Alpine A290 at a showroom in Sesto San Giovanni, expressing his enthusiasm for the car’s technical features and innovative design. The Alpine A290 represents a commitment to blending performance with eco-consciousness, aligning with a broader trend towards electric mobility. According to Andrea Rorato, Head of the Alpine brand, the A290 embodies the brand’s sporting DNA within a compact and muscular frame.
Alpine A290: Performance and Specifications
The Alpine A290 boasts a 220 CV (160 kW) engine, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. Its 52 kWh battery provides a range of approximately 380 km (WLTP cycle), suitable for both city driving and longer journeys. The vehicle supports swift charging, replenishing energy from 15% to 80% in around 30 minutes using a 100 kW direct current system.
Pricing and Features
The Alpine A290 is available with a starting price of 39,000 euros. A limited-edition Première Edition, featuring unique details, is priced at just over 46,000 euros, with only 1,955 units available. Scotti’s model includes an “Overtake” (OV) button integrated into the sports steering wheel, inspired by Formula 1, providing an instant torque boost of 300 Nm for enhanced overtaking capabilities. Additional features include 19-inch wheels and a Brembo braking system.
Renault Group’s Strategy
The Renault Group views the A290 as a key component of its strategy to deliver high-performance electric vehicles that are both fun to drive and environmentally responsible. Scotti’s adoption of the A290 underscores this vision, demonstrating the appeal of electric vehicles to a broad audience.
As Scotti noted, whereas fashions and technologies evolve, the thrill of speed remains constant, now enhanced by the nuances of modern electric vehicles. With his new Alpine, the host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and The Wheel of Fortune combines comfort with the legacy of a renowned automotive brand.
